GunnersGaming by Betsson, Arsenal’s Official Betting Partner, give us the rundown on some of the markets on offer ahead of Monday’s FA Cup match against Leeds...
The Gunners enter the FA Cup on Monday with a tricky Third-Round tie against Leeds United. The game will no doubt be billed as a David vs Goliath clash, but in truth Leeds are still a force to be reckoned with. While they are still some way from the days of Champions League semi-finals, this is sure to be an exciting tie.
The teams have enjoyed contrasting form of late. While Arsenal had a healthy run of results in December, Leeds struggled for points, but conversely it is the Championship club who have started 2012 on a positive note and the Gunners who began with disappointment. However, the form book often counts for nothing in the FA Cup and with both teams keen to progress, there promises to be an electric atmosphere at Emirates Stadium.
With Leeds facing something of a defensive injury crisis, it is not surprising that Arsenal begin the game as strong favourites so it is much more rewarding to try to predict the scoreline. Leeds lost 3-0 to Manchester United in the Carling Cup earlier this season, so some may fancy the chances of a similar result on Monday available at 51/10 (6.1) but at this point a 2-0 Arsenal win would appear safer money, priced at 43/10 (5.3).
Theo Walcott has stated his desire for 2012 is to find the net more regularly and this will be a good chance for the Englishman to get started. Back him to score at 7/4 (2.75), or what about Laurent Koscielny to follow up Monday’s goal at Fulham with another against Leeds at a tempting 35/4 (9.75).
For the visitors Ross McCormack is the man to watch with 12 goals already this season and he is 22/5 (5.45) to find the net again on Monday.
With one of the Premier League’s top two sides sure to exit the competition at the Third Round stage as a result of Sunday’s Manchester derby, there is also good value in Arsenal to go all the way and lift the trophy at Wembley on May 5. Back the Gunners to win the FA Cup at 15/2 (8.55).
