GunnersGaming by Betsson, Arsenal’s Official Betting Partner, give us the rundown on some of the markets on offer ahead of Saturday’s match against QPR...
Saturday pits third in the league against third bottom. Arsenal are on an impressive run of seven straight league wins and now have third place in their own hands. QPR, on the other hand, are fighting for Premier League survival. Arsenal need only look at Rangers’ recent comeback win against Liverpool for a reminder that the home side will give everything right up until the last minute.
Our Football Predictor remains confident that Arsenal will extend their terrific run and pick up another valuable three. points - the odds of 4/7 reflect that.
Mikel Arteta’s last-minute free-kick prevented the Predictor forecasting two correct results in a row and this week it predicts that Arsenal have an equal chance of winning 2-0 or 2-1. There is more value in backing a 2-1 win at 13/2 but if you see the Gunners keeping a clean sheet then 2-0 is available at 5/1.
With December’s game the first meeting between the sides since 1996, it is no surprise that Robin van Persie is the only current Arsenal player to have scored against QPR. That strike was the first and only goal in the game at Emirates Stadium back in December. Having not scored for two games now there is a little extra value in backing the Dutchman to score first again at 11/4.
Arsenal have averaged 1.9 goals in their last 20 away games and have not scored more than two goals away from home since beating Wigan at the beginning of December. As a result, 11/10 for the Gunners to score fewer than 1.5 goals looks tempting but perhaps it is more likely that there will be less than 2.5 goals in the game, also available at 11/10.
Arsenal’s defenders have proved a useful source of goals in recent weeks with Thomas Vermaelen grabbing two in his last three games and Kieran Gibbs hitting the opener last weekend. Vermaelen looks a rewarding bet at 4/1 to get himself on the scoresheet again.
Theo Walcott took his goal excellently last week and will be hoping to find the net a few more times before the end of the season. Why not back the England man to score in an Arsenal win, available at 3/1.
