Cesc Fabregas and Emmanuel Adebayor have been shortlisted for the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year award.

The two Arsenal stars join four other Premier League players in the shortlist - last year's winner Cristiano Ronaldo, Portsmouth stopper David James plus Liverpool duo Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard.

Fabregas is also in the running for the PFA Young Player of the Year award. He's up against Ronaldo once again as well as Manchester City defender Micah Richards and Aston Villa pair Gabriel Agbonlahor and Ashley Young.

Both Adebayor and Fabregas have enjoyed their most fruitful seasons since arriving at the Club. The Togo striker has plundered 19 League goals and at his best has been almost unplayable. Fabregas, who was also nominated for the young player's award last term, has been the heartbeat of the Arsenal's midfield for much of the season, registering an impressive 18 assists and seven goals.
