Ciara Grant believes Arsenal can put one foot in the Final of the UEFA Women's Cup if they can overcome FFC Frankfurt in the Quarter Finals.

Speaking exclusively to, the Republic of Ireland captain said: "To be honest, I think if we can get through this Saturday and the away leg the following Saturday, I think we would have a very good chance of getting to the Final."

The 27-year-old midfielder has been busy preparing for Saturday's visit of the German champions, whom she said were something of an unknown quantity.

"We're working very hard in training," said Grant. "Vic [Akers] was out watching Frankfurt on Monday so he got some insight into how they play.

"The players are going to be unknown because we've never played against them before but we have heard [about them] and they have got six or seven German internationals so they are going to be a strong side."

Grant also spoke about the greater depth of the Arsenal squad this season but admitted that the absence of striker Julie Fleeting would be a blow.

"This year obviously Vic has signed a few more internationals so we have got a very strong squad," she said. "But it's a pity that we are missing Julie because she's an out-an-out goalscorer and goals in the group stages goals weren't coming too fast."
