Gibbs - Christmas period is unforgiving

13/14: Arenal 0-0 Chelsea - Kieran Gibbs

Kieran Gibbs cut a frustrated figure when he spoke after the goalless draw with Chelsea on Monday night.

The full back was one of Arsenal’s best attacking outlets at a rainswept Emirates Stadium as the visitors withstood mounting pressure in the second half to preserve their point.

"We have to respond quickly as we play every three days for the next two weeks"

The result was not enough to return Arsène Wenger’s side to the top of the Premier League table. But it did bring them level with Liverpool and Gibbs took comfort in that.

“I think we can say we deserved to win the game,” he said. “There were chances at both ends but we were the ones that ended up disappointed.

“It was a scrappy game and the weather did not help. We were left frustrated but this is the most unforgiving part of the season. We have to respond quickly as we play every three days for the next two weeks. We have to forget it and move on.

“The Premier League can change in a matter of weeks. And that is what we have to control. We have to make sure if we are not winning then we are not losing. We did that tonight and we have to take that as a positive.”
