• Southampton were formed as St. Mary's Young Men's Association FC before being simply known as St. Mary's. Seven years later they became known as Southampton St. Mary's before adopting their current name in 1897
  
• Manager Nigel Adkins was a physio at former club Scunthorpe before taking the reins at Glanford Park
• Saints have won the FA Cup once in 1976, beating Manchester United 1-0
• They have never won the First Division, however, finishing second in 1983/84
