Gavin Hoyte... Carling Cup regular this season
Gavin Hoyte signs new long-term contract
Arsenal can confirm that young defender Gavin Hoyte has signed a new long term contract with the Club.
England Youth International Hoyte (18), has been with Arsenal since the age of nine and signed professional terms with the Club in September 2007.
Gavin, who is the younger brother of Justin [who joined Middlesbrough from Arsenal in August 2008], was named in the bench in four of the Club’s five Carling Cup fixtures last season and also featured in the traditional pre-season friendly against Barnet. Gavin’s steady performance at Underhill earned him a place at the Austrian Training Camp where he featured twice.
Hoyte, who is this year’s Reserves Captain, made his first team debut in the Carling Cup Third Round victory over Sheffield United in September and went on to play the full 90 minutes in all three of the Club’s Carling Cup matches this season. His progress then continued by making his first Premier League appearance, being named in the starting line-up for the match at Manchester City on November 22, 2008.
Everyone at Arsenal wishes Gavin continued success with the Club.
