Arsenal's central defensive problems appear to be over.

Either William Gallas (hamstring) or Johan Djourou (foot) will play at Charlton on Saturday despite picking up injuries against Porto in midweek.

On Thursday, Arsène Wenger told Arsenal TV Online that he might have to play Gilberto or Alex Song, both midfielders, if his established centre backs failed their respective scans.

Fortunately both players came through OK. They will face further fitness tests on Saturday and, as it stands, Gallas is the more likely starter.

"William is travelling and will have a fitness test tomorrow," said Wenger at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

"The scan looks quite positive and his injury looks OK so I am very happy. Johan Djourou is travelling too so one of the two will play."
