Frank Stubbs: Stalemate

Looking back over the years we have had to endure some pretty dull no score draws, it's very much part of being a football fan. These days they are few and far between. Those that lack entertainment in fact, are almost non-existent!

Result-wise, of course, Tuesday night's game falls into that category but once again it certainly wasn't lacking when it comes to talking points.

The game was massive for both teams and in a highly intense first half you could really tell that. With 'blood and thunder' tackles and a phenomenal pace to the whole affair, both sides almost cancelled one another out.

Going into any second half I am always confident, especially if we are level at the very least. Time and time again we have shown we are extremely strong in this period and Tuesday was no different.

Our hosts certainly had their moments but we created numerous situations where on another day we would have scored and gone on to take the three points. It wasn't to be, however, so from a night full of pressure we go home with a point and a clean sheet.

Disappointed not to take all three points of course but it certainly isn't a disaster and it keeps our good run going as we head into west London to take on Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

A few seasons back I heard through the grapevine somebody was 'organising a boat' to Craven Cottage. Always up for a party and anything unique, a few of our group booked on. Although I remember it being a lot of fun, word obviously hadn't got round quite as much as hoped with the boat being less than full.

It is an event that has pretty much become annual since then, so much in fact that there is almost what can be described as a flotilla of vessels due to head along our capital city's great river in the build-up to this Saturday's match.

With the weather forecast looking favourable it promises to be an entertaining day.

As always with these things it will only be fully satisfying if we go on to get a positive result.

The big away end at Fulham can work both for or against you. Making a huge racket by singing our hearts out for the team can only help our cause on the day. So join me in doing just that.

Come on you rip-roaring reds!
