Former Arsenal midfielder Fabrice Muamba has announced his retirement from professional football.

Fabrice, who rose through the academy and played twice for the first team in 2005, was in a critical condition after collapsing during an FA Cup tie at Tottenham on Saturday, March 17.

The 24-year-old was discharged from hospital two weeks after the incident.

But after advice from his medical team and extensive discussions with cardiologists, Fabrice has decided to call time on a playing career that took in spells at Arsenal, Birmingham City and Bolton Wanderers.

Everybody at Arsenal Football Club wishes Fabrice luck in his future endeavours.
