Cesc Fabregas is backing Carlos Vela to be a success at West Bromwich Albion.

The Mexican striker joined the Baggies on loan during the transfer window and made his debut in a 2-2 draw against Wigan on Tuesday night.

Vela will need time to find his feet at the Hawthorns - he was replaced after 58 minutes against Wigan - but Fabregas thinks his move will be a beneficial one.

"Last week we loaned out Carlos Vela to West Brom, and I think that’s a fantastic move for him," he told the Official Matchday Programme.

"I’m sure he will play games there and enjoy his football, which is exactly what he needs to be doing.

"He’s a very good young player and one of the best finishers around, as we have seen with our own eyes.

"We wish him all the best; he is very well liked in the dressing room and hopefully he’ll benefit from spending time with a good side like West Brom."
