Cesc Fabregas will not play for Arsenal again this season.
The captain has missed the past three games with a thigh problem and suffered a setback ahead of Sunday's 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa.
Fabregas’ injury is severe enough to rule him out of Arsenal's final Premier League fixture at Craven Cottage next week and Spain's friendlies against the United States and Venezuela in June.
"Fabregas is out for the season and for the international season as well," confirmed Arsène Wenger.
"He had a setback on his thigh and he will not play for us anymore this season and not for Spain because he is out for three or four weeks."
Samir Nasri and Johan Djourou also missed Sunday's game and are major doubts for next week's trip to Craven Cottage.
"Djourou has a little chance and Nasri has a very little chance," said Wenger.
"We will see how he [Nasri] progresses but he could be out as well for France [who face Belarus on June 3]. We have to check. Samir's injury is less [serious] than Fabregas."
