Fabregas - I fear I have broken my leg

By Richard Clarke

Cesc Fabregas fears he may have broken his leg.

The Arsenal captain is unclear precisely when he picked up the problem but it may well have been BEFORE he stroked home the dramatic 84th-minute penalty that drew his side level in Wednesday's glorious Champions League Quarter-Final first leg against Barcelona at Emirates Stadium.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic struck twice in the second half to give the visitors a deserved lead. But the introduction of Theo Walcott made the difference. His goal gave Arsenal a lifeline two minutes after coming on. Just before the end, Carlos Puyol fouled Fabregas and the midfielder scored from the spot.

"I took the penalty quite strongly but after, when I went to get the ball, I could not walk anymore," he said. "I don't know if I did it then or when I was fouled.

"It is the fibula. I think I put my leg between Puyol's when I was fouled and kicked it.

"I fear the worst, which is that I have broken something. But we have to wait. The scans will tell us if it is something or nothing.

"I do not think it is going to be good news but still I hope there will be."
