Cesc Fabregas... set to return next week
Fabregas ‘doing well’ and set for FC Twente
By Richard Clarke
Cesc Fabregas is expected to return to the Arsenal squad for the Champions League qualifier against Twente at Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
The midfielder is working his way back to fitness after picking up a hamstring injury at the Amsterdam Tournament earlier this month. Arsène Wenger intends to assess the fitness of the 21-year-old Spaniard early next week but he insists he will not take a risk with Arsenal leading 2-0 in the tie.
"He is doing very well in training,” said Wenger. “While he is not likely to be involved on Saturday, he should be ready for the Champions League game on Wednesday night.
"You know how important he is on the creative side of our game and you want him to be in the team, but we do not want to face a gamble for just one game and we have to be patient.
"We will have to asses him on Monday or Tuesday to see how big a gamble it will be to start him or not.”
