Cesc Fabregas dedicated his goal against Sparta Prague on Wednesday night to Antonio Puerta.
The 22-year-old Sevilla defender had a heart attack during the game against Getafe on Sunday night and died two days later. Fabregas represented Spain with Puerta and wore a black armband of remembrance in the 3-0 win against the Czech champions.
"The goal was for him and at the moment everything is for him," said Fabregas afterwards. "He was only 22 years old but with the way he died it is difficult to express how you feel.
"I knew it was really bad but I thought he could be fine. But it was terrible when I was told yesterday that he would not make it.
"I played with him for one year with the Under-21s. He made his debut at the same time as me. I was really sad yesterday when I heard the news. I know he loved football and he was a phenomenal boy."Copyright 2013 The Arsenal Football Club plc.
