Lukasz Fabianski admits his long-term injury this year has been a bitter pill to swallow.
The Polish goalkeeper was in fine form when his 2010/11 campaign was cut short in January by an unfortunate shoulder injury suffered during the warm-up to the Manchester City game.
Wojciech Szczesny made the No 1 spot his own in Fabianski’s absence but the senior Pole is set to return in goal tonight when Shrewsbury visit Emirates Stadium in the Carling Cup.
"Working hard is all I can do, and when a chance comes up I just have to take it," the goalkeeper told the Official Matchday Programme.
"[Before the injury] I was doing well, playing regularly, and it was a really good time for me. Suddenly it was over, like that.
"That’s how it is in football."
