After fielding a youthful line-up against Barnet on Saturday, Arsène Wenger got his first look at most of squad’s senior players during their 7-1 thrashing of SC Columbia.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing. The Viennese part-timers opened the scoring after 35 minutes but were in front for less than 60 seconds. Nicklas Bendtner, Robin van Persie and Aaron Ramsey all bagged braces on the night while William Gallas pitched in with a firm header.

After the clash, Wenger spoke exclusively to Arsenal TV Online. He discussed:

  • the importance of the workout and scoring goals
  • Nicklas Bendtner's strikes and his important season
  • how Samir Nasri broke his leg
  • Tomas Rosicky's reaction to his first game
  • why Lukasz Fabianski is not in Austria
  • the future of Phillipe Senderos
  • why the hard work starts now
