Shakhtar Donetsk

Metalurh Donetsk 0-2 Shakhtar Donetsk
Friday, October 15
Shakhtar Donetsk warmed up for Tuesday’s Champions League game against Arsenal with a 2-0 win over city rivals Metalurh Donetsk on Friday evening. Dmytro Chygrynskiy gave the Group H side the lead when he headed home a corner after just nine minutes to silence the home support. Mircea Lucescu’s men then went two goals ahead when Alex Teixeira slotted home ten minutes later. That’s the way it stayed and the win leaves Shakhtar five points clear at the top of the Ukrainian Premier League. They travel to Emirates Stadium to face the Gunners after two wins from their opening two Champions League games.

Partizan Belgrade

FK Partizan 5-3 Smederevo
Friday, October 15
Partizan Belgrade came out on top of an eight-goal thriller on Friday as they beat mid-table Smederevo 5-3. The Serbian champions went a goal down before Ivica Iliev and Marko Šćepović gave Aleksandar Stanojevic’s side the lead. They were then pegged back only for Pierre Boya and Šćepović again to put Partizan in control. Saša Ranković made it 4-3 but Radosav Petrović finally made the win safe eight minutes from time. Partizan are still second in the Serbian Super Liga, three points behind title and city rivals Crvena Zvezda.

Sporting Braga

Sporting Braga
The team sitting bottom of Group H, Sporting Braga, enjoyed a weekend off as they prepared for Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Partizan Belgrade. Braga are sixth in the Portiguese Liga, seven points behind league leaders Porto.
