Arsenal’s next opponents in the Champions League won 2-0 against title rivals Dynamo Kyiv on Sunday evening. The game pitted together the top two in the Ukrainian Premier League and second-half goals from Luiz Adriano and Alex Teixeira gave Shakhtar a vital three points. Mircea Lucescu’s side went ahead after 64 minutes when Adriano volleyed home from close range - much to the delight of a partisan crowd. Dynamo Kyiv pushed for an equaliser but Shakhtar scored a second on the break in injury time when Teixera sealed the win with a neat finish from inside the area. Shakhtar are now five points clear of their rivals at the top of the table, and have a superior goal difference. During the game, midfielder Douglas Costa picked up a thigh injury just before half time and the 20-year-old is likely to miss the match against Arsenal on October 19.

Partizan Belgrade

Vojvodina 2-0 FK Partizan

After their Champions League loss to Arsenal in midweek, Partizan Belgrade suffered defeat on their return to domestic action as they went down 2-0 to high-flying Vojvodina on Sunday. Mario Durovski put Partizan behind from the penalty spot after 28 minutes when he drilled the ball past Vladimir Stojkovi. Giorgi Merebashvi then made the win safe with a fortuitous strike after 57 minutes. Partizan are now three points behind city rivals Crvena Zvezda at the top of the Serbian Super Liga.

Sporting Braga

Benfica 1-0 Sporting Braga

Sporting Braga lost 1-0 away to title rivals Benfica as they slipped to fifth in the Portuguese Liga. The side that sit bottom of Champions League Group H conceded a 73rd-minute Carlos Javier Martins goal leave them with just one win in six matches in all competitions. Martins lashed home past Felipe from close range to leave Braga seven points behind league leaders Porto.
