Saturday, May 6, 2006

Barcelona continued their impressive end-of-season form with a 2-0 win against local rivals Espanyol as the Primera Liga champions celebrated their second successive title in front of their own fans at the Nou Camp.

Arsenal's Champions League Final opponents went ahead in the 19th minute when defender Daniel Jarque scored an own goal and Ronaldinho doubled Barcelona's lead six minutes into the second half.

Frank Rijkaard's team now have 82 points, 13 more than second-placed Real Madrid. Barcelona face Athletic Bilbao next Sunday and complete their La Liga campaign against Seville, three days after playing Arsenal in Paris.
