FC Barcelona 4-1 Malaga
Sunday, January 16
Barcelona increased their lead at the top of La Liga to four points with a comprehensive 4-1 win over Malaga on Sunday. After Real Madrid had earlier drawn 1-1 with Almeria, Pep Guardiola’s side took full advantage thanks to a brace from David Villa and goals from Andreas Iniesta and Pedro. Iniesta put the Catalans ahead after just seven minutes with an exquisite strike from outside the area and Villa made it two ten minutes later when he finished well from close range. Pedro got Barca’s third after 35 minutes when he tapped in after Iniesta’s shot had been well saved by Sergio Asenjo. Duda did pull a goal back for Malaga in the second half but Villa completed a comfortable night when he rounded the goalkeeper to score his 14th goal of the season after 74 minutes.
