FC Barcelona 2-1 Athletic Bilbao
Sunday, February 20
Following Wednesday’s defeat at Emirates Stadium, Barcelona returned to La Liga action with a 2-1 win over Athletic Bilbao on Sunday. The Catalan giants retained their five-point lead over Real Madrid thanks to Lionel Messi’s late winner at the Nou Camp. Arsenal’s last-16 opponents went ahead after just four minutes when David Villa finished well from Dani Alves’ cut-back to get his third goal in as many games. Bilbao got back on level terms five minutes into the second half when Sergio Busquets brought down Fernando Llorente inside the area and Iraola sent Pinto the wrong way from the penalty spot. The game looked to be heading for a draw until Messi poked home Alves’ cross from close range to give Barca three points with his 25th League goal of the season.
