Lukas Podolski, Nicklas Bendtner
Germany 2-1 Denmark, Group B
Sunday, June 17
Lukas Podolski marked his 100th international appearance with a goal as Germany secured their place in the last eight of Euro 2012.
The 27-year-old - who will join Arsenal after the tournament - became the youngest European player to reach a century of caps and made the occasion even more special with a goal after 19 minutes against Denmark.
Podolski finished with a flourish when Thomas Muller's low cross found its way to him inside the box, opening his account for the tournament in the process.
Denmark boosted their own hopes of a quarter-final spot when Nicklas Bendtner set up an equaliser for Michael Krohn-Dehli after 25 minutes.
Bendtner has had an impressive tournament and could have won a penalty when he was pulled back as he tried to convert a chance in the second half.
But the Dane will be heading home after Lars Bender secured victory for Germany with a calm finish 10 minutes from time.
Podolski and Germany will face Greece in the last eight - and Per Mertesacker will hope to make his first appearance after another 90 minutes on the bench for the tournament favourites..17 Jun 2012
