Germany eased into the Euro 2012 semi-finals with a comfortable 4-2 victory against Greece on Friday night - and possibly set up a showdown against England.

Neither Lukas Podolski nor Per Mertesacker featured for the tournament favourites in Gdansk, but that did not prevent them from brushing aside a limited Greece side intent on containment.

Joachim Low's side were frustrated for much of the first half as they wasted a host of clear-cut chances, but Philipp Lahm settled any nerves with a fine 39th-minute strike.

Germany's dominance continued after the half-time interval but Greece caused a momentary shock when Georgios Samaras bundled in an equaliser against the run of play in the 55th minute.

But Low's side maintained their composure and retook the lead within six minutes as Sami Khedira fired home from inside the box, before Miroslav Klose and Marco Reus added further strikes.

Dimitris Salpingidis converted a late penalty for Greece, but it was nothing more than a consolation as an imperious Germany marched on to take their place among the final four.
