Eastmond - I don't want my rapid rise to stop

By Chris Harris

Craig Eastmond's career is progressing at a rate of knots - and that's exactly how he likes it.

The 19-year-old piled up the milestones in 2009: he made his first appearance for the Reserves, scored his first goal at that level, won the Youth Cup, signed professional terms with the Club and broke into the Carling Cup side.

The first month of 2010 wasn't bad either - Eastmond put pen to paper on a contract extension and made his Premier League debut at Bolton. The versatile Londoner has ticked off a number of big targets already but he is determined not to slow down in the months to come.

"It's moving very quick for me and that's the way I want it to be so I can adapt to it very quickly and be focused all the time," he told Arsenal TV Online.

"If you want to be a member of the first team you have to have a professional attitude and be focused all the time. It's good to be with the players who have been there and done it. I look up to them and ask questions, they give me their point of view and I take it on board.

"There's a chance for everyone but not everyone can make it at a high level so you've got to take your chance with two hands. If you only take it with one hand you can let it slip."

Subscribers can now watch part one of an exclusive interview with Craig on Arsenal TV Online. He discussed:

  • being part of the first-team squad
  • whether he has exceeded expectations already
  • his Premier League debut at Bolton
  • how he dealt with the experience
  • the support of his family
  • his rapid rise over the past 12 months
  • losing at Stoke in the FA Cup
