Abou Diaby has won Arsenal.com's Player of the Month award for March with 24.09 per cent of the votes cast in our official poll.
The honour is just reward for Diaby after a string of impressive performances since his return from a long-term ankle injury at the start of the year. His midfield displays also caught the eye of France coach Raymond Domenech - he handed Diaby his senior international debut in France's Euro 2008 qualifier against Lithuania.
Diaby won plenty of admirers in February with a powerhouse display in the Carling Cup Final against Chelsea. He began March on the substitutes bench but came on during the 2-1 win against Reading and the Champions League clash with PSV Eindhoven.
However, the highlight of Diaby's month in club football was undoubtedly his first Premiership goal of the campaign. The Frenchman was rather fortuitous, deflecting Julio Baptista's shot past Aston Villa goalkeeper Tomas Sorensen, but he deserved his stroke of luck after doing as much as anyone to earn that welcome 1-0 win at Villa Park.
A full 90 minutes followed for Diaby at Goodison Park - where Arsenal lost 1-0 - and he also started last weekend's 4-1 defeat at Anfield. That appearance came after Diaby had made his first two senior appearances for France in the space of four days, coming on as a late subsitute in Lithuania before starting a friendly against Austria in Paris.

Arsenal supporter Teresa Longhurst from Wellington in Somerset will present Abou with his award before the game against Wednesday on Saturday, April 7.
"What a player Diaby is," said Teresa. "He will be a star next year. He has already shown he's got what it takes to become a great Arsenal player."
