Abou Diaby says his injury problems are “nothing” when compared to the life-threatening conditions other players have had to deal with.

Former Gunner Fabrice Muamba is still recovering after suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch for Bolton last month, while France international Eric Abidal is to undergo a liver transplant operation.

Diaby has been hit by a series of injuries that have restricted him to just three first-team appearances this season, but he says things could have been far worse.

“To be honest there are some situations where you think about your future, but it is important to stay positive,” he told Arsenal Player.

“When the injuries were happening often and you don't find the issue it is a bit difficult. The only thing you can do is look forward and stay positive.

“There are always worse situations in life than me, even in football when you look at what happened to Muamba or Abidal. Me, it's nothing.”
