Denilson says 'focus' will be the watchword as Arsenal challenge for honours on two fronts in the final weeks of the season.
The Brazilian midfielder produced arguably his best display of the season on Saturday as the ten-man Gunners beat West Ham to stay in the thick of the title race. Meanwhile a tantalising Champions League Quarter-Final with Barcelona is just around the corner.
Denilson's goal against West Ham took his tally to six in 21 starts this term compared to just three in 49 starts last season. The 22-year-old has been less of a fixture in the Arsenal side in the current campaign but he believes that the lessons learned from last season will hold the entire squad in good stead - provided the players keep their concentration.
“I think we have gained from the experience of last season,” Denilson told the Official Matchday Programme. “We were in good positions in some of the competitions but missed a little bit.
"At the start of this season, though, I was telling people I thought we were ready, because we were close and focused. And you can see now that we are strong and well-placed.
"We have a good opportunity to win the Premier League and are in the last eight of the Champions League. The boss has just told us to focus – and, as players, we know we need to win something.
"It’s been different from last year [for me], when I played most games. This time I’ve been injured a bit and on the bench a few times too. But I’m feeling good now and ready for the rest of the season. What’s coming up is a great opportunity for all of us.”
