It is with great sadness that Arsenal Football Club has learned of the death of Dave Sexton.

Born in Islington in April 1930, Sexton spent an eight-year playing career at a host of clubs including West Ham United and Crystal Palace.

Following his retirement as a player, Sexton was named by Bertie Mee as Arsenal’s first-team coach in 1966, before later going on to manage Chelsea, where the team won the FA Cup and European Cup Winners’ Cup under his guidance.

Sexton later managed Queens Park Rangers, Manchester United and Coventry City, as well as leading the England Under-21 side for a number of years.

The thoughts of everyone at Arsenal Football Club are with Dave's family and friends at this difficult time.
