Arsène Wenger expects David Dein's replacement to be appointed in the close season.

The Frenchman will be heavily involved in the recruitment of a new 'Director of Football'* to fulfil the duties of the former vice-chairman, who left the Club last week. At his pre-match press conference on Friday, Wenger outlined the qualities the new man should have.

"I am looking for somebody who has experience of negotiating a little bit, somebody I can leave alone because sometimes I cannot be there," he said.

"Somebody who understands football and knows the football world as well and somebody who has the values and agrees with the values we want to hold at the Club. Preferably intelligent, that's it. He can be a young guy.

"It will happen in the summer. He will be appointed by me but it will not necessarily be a friend of mine. It will be somebody who will do the job well because if I go one day the guy has still to work here."

* It is important to note that no job title has been specified. Therefore the label 'Director of Football' is being used as a blanket term for this type of role.
