TV funnyman Matt Lucas is to star in a new programme... at the Carling Cup Final.

The Arsenal fan and Little Britain creator has penned a specially commissioned “Ten things you didn’t know about the Carling Cup” piece for the official matchday programme.

In his piece, Lucas takes a tongue-in-cheek look at the Carling Cup and reveals facts such as “the Carling Cup trophy is made entirely from cashew nuts” and will be presented by “HRH The Duke of Ipswich, Prince Barry”.

Lucas is joined by Birmingham City fan and Sky News presenter Chris Skudder for a page entitled “A Red and Blue View” inside the programme.

Carling has also given over the front page of the programme to fans of both finalist clubs who recount their journey to Wembley.

Carling Senior Brand Manager Rob Hollis said: “Every year we look for new ways to add to the Carling Cup Final experience – as we all know, fans and their mates are right at the heart of the competition so what better place to put them than on the front cover of the match programme?

“As well as giving fans a voice we hope we’re giving them a laugh with some exclusive insight from one of the nation’s best loved comedians in Matt Lucas. We’re looking forward to a great final.”
