ALMUNIA WEEK

Manuel Almunia... Hallelujah!

Competition: We have our Almunia Week winner!

The Almunia Week competition is over and we have decided our winner!

Earlier this week we asked you to send in your ideas for a unique fan song for the man you voted third in our Player of the Season poll, Manuel Almunia.

Here at Arsenal.com we have been very impressed by the high standard of this week’s entries. But, of course, there can be only one winner.

Carlin Garrett from South Australia got very creative with his take on Jeff Buckley/Alexandra Burke’s hit ‘Hallelujah’. His very unique effort earns him a copy of the Official Season Review DVD.

Here is Carlin’s effort and a few other entries that just missed out on the prize. Special mention must go to Andreas’ food-based entry and Ashley’s simple yet effective chant.

1. Carlin Garrett
Australia

“I've heard there was a Spanish man who played in goals, and it pleased the fans and you don't really care for Tottenham, do ya? It goes like this they shoot, they miss He makes the save, with his fingertips, our goalkeeping king, his name is Almunia, Almuuniiiiiiia Almuuniiiiiiia Almuuniiiiiiia Almuuniiiiiiia”
(To the tune of ‘Hallelujah’ by Jeff Buckley/Alexandra Burke)

2. Andreas Michael
Cyprus

“Oh Manuel Al-mu-nia is his name - And he used to eat paella down in Spain - He was born to be a Gooner - we should have played him sooner -  and Manuel Almunia  is his name, is his name!”
(To the tune of ‘She’ll be coming round the mountain)

3. Ashley Burns
Wolverhampton

“Ooh aah Almunia! Say ooh ahh Almunia!”
(To the tune of the ‘Ooh-ahh Cantona’)

4. Nathan Boyle
Northern Ireland

“Al-munia you’re so fine, you’re so fine you blow my mind Almunia! Almunia!”
(To the tune of ‘Mickey’ by Toni Basil)

5. Dan Maguire
London

“They shoot, you save – what can make us feel this way? Manuel, Manuel, Manuel – talking ‘bout Manuel, Manuel!”
(To the tune of ‘My Girl’ by the Temptations)
