Arsène Wenger hopes to have Ashley Cole available for the last "four or five" games this season.
The left back has had precisely 56 minutes of first-team football since October 2 due to a combination of foot and ankle injuries but will finally return to full training on Monday. His club manager believes that the 25-year-old's World Cup chances will not be affected by the absence but he'll need a little time to adjust before he is thrown back into club football
"Ashley Cole will come back into the squad on Monday," said Wenger. "He has still not played for seven months. So far he's only practised with the fitness coach. He will practise with everybody again on Monday.
"He should be fit for the last four or five games. For
England there should not be a problem. But for us I don't know
really when he will be ready. We have
to see how he responds to normal training.
"Certainly he will not play against Villarreal [on Wednesday] unless we have a disaster before that."
