Clichy, Sagna and Diaby miss out for France

Despite a stellar domestic campaign for Arsenal, Gael Clichy has been snubbed by France's national coach Raymond Domenech ahead of the European Championships.

His superb Club form earned Clichy, 22, a place in the PFA Team of the Year. He was also included in Les Bleus' recent 'B' team fixture against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

However, when naming a 30-man provisional squad for this summer's tournament, Domenech opted for the more experienced left-back pair of Manchester United's Patrice Evra, 27, and Eric Abidal, 28, of Barcelona. Clichy is yet to be capped at senior level, but has represented the Under-21s on 10 occasions. In contrast Evra and Abidal boast 41 senior caps between them.

Injured pair Bacary Sagna and Abou Diaby are the other notable exclusions from the squad, meaning that Gunners captain William Gallas will be the Club's only representative for France. Mathieu Flamini, who will join AC Milan this summer, is also included.
