Santi Cazorla is delighted with the start he has made to life in England, and says it was easy to settle in at Arsenal.

The Spanish international has lit up the Premier League with a series of impressive performances, and was again excellent as Arsenal beat Tottenham 5-2 in Saturday’s north London derby.

Cazorla’s next target is to drive his new team to success.

“It’s always a challenge as a footballer, to change the league you play in, try different things and integrate into another club,” he told Arsenal Player.

“I took it as an opportunity, one to enjoy, and I’m relishing every moment. It hasn’t been difficult adapting, because the football here is so good and I’m very happy with how my few months in London have been.

“I feel valued here. The manager gives me confidence, and within the team I have a responsibility that I love having. Little by little, I hope to keep improving and I hope to help the team as much as possible.

“We’ve all got to be pointing in the same direction to do well and make strides forward.”

Cazorla is already a fans’ favourite and their loyalty extends to the international scene.

“Even when I played for Spain against Belarus, there were a large number of Arsenal fans there,” said Cazorla. “They were always singing my name. One of my team-mates for Spain couldn’t even sleep, because they didn’t stop singing. I love it and I appreciate the fans’ affection.

“It’s one of the best things about football for the players. Thankfully, the Arsenal fans are behind me and I hope it stays that way for a long time, because it helps me play well on the pitch.”
