Fabio Capello... Italian gets Wenger's backing
Wenger: 'I've complete confidence in Capello'
By Richard Clarke
Arsène Wenger has given Fabio Capello his full backing ahead of the Italian’s first competitive game in charge of England.
The former Milan manager has had mixed results in his opening few friendlies however the real test will come in Group Six as the Three Lions attempt to qualify for the World Cup in 2010. Andorra may not pose too many problems on Saturday but next Wednesday’s trip to Croatia will give more indication of the new broom sweeping through Soho Square. Wenger is a believer.
“I have complete confidence in Capello to turn things right,” he told Arsenal.com. “England did not play well against the Czech Republic like we did not play against Fulham but it does not make Capello a bad manager.
“They have a relatively soft start against Andorra but the real test will be Croatia. So get three points first [on Saturday] and then they have nothing to lose in the next game.”
