The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has praised Arsenal in the Community for its continued work as the scheme celebrates its 25th anniversary.
For the last quarter of a century, Arsenal in the Community has delivered over 5.5 million hours of time to more than one million participants in London and around the world.
The Club is celebrating with a week of events to mark the milestone, and Boris Johnson has now lauded the Club for its continued efforts.
"Football can be an immense force for good - engaging, inspiring and enhancing the lives of people from all walks of life," said the Mayor.
"As a neighbour of Arsenal FC I am particularly pleased to see the committed work they have been doing to develop young people's life skills through sport, education and charitable initiatives.
"It is this type of activity that shows the potential of football to transform, and underlines why we must all work together to bring the World Cup here in 2018."
Earlier in the week Prime Minister Gordon Brown commended the department's work. "I congratulate Arsenal in the Community for what they have achieved over the last 25 years," he said.
"Inspiring our communities builds stronger communities, something I have been passionate about for many years.
"Arsenal has a lot to be proud of and I am sure the next 25 years will be just as inspiring."
