Young Arsenal defender Daniel Boateng has joined Swindon Town on loan for the remainder of the 2011/12 season.

The 19-year-old, who has featured 27 times for the Reserves since breaking through in the 2009/10 season, secured his first senior appearance in the 2-1 Carling Cup victory over Bolton Wanderers last October.

He joins Paulo Di Canio’s side to gain further first team experience and help the fourth-placed League Two outfit in their quest for promotion. Daniel will also be eligible for FA Cup involvement during his spell, following the Robins’ Third Round giant-killing victory over Wigan Athletic.

The Enfield-born youngster joined the Gunners’ Hale End academy aged 11, and signed a new contract with the Club in November 2011. A 2009/10 Premier Academy League winner, Daniel is vice captain of the Reserves, and was skipper of the Under-19s side who reached the Semi-Finals of last year’s Dallas Cup in Texas.

Everyone at Arsenal Football Club wishes Daniel the best of luck during his time at the County Ground.
