's Nick Teale uses the Bettorlogic form lab to assess this Sunday's game.

Last season West Ham United finished ninth in the Premier League table, just two points short of qualifying for the Europa League.

However, their start to the new campaign has been disappointing. Their only win came on the opening day away at Wolves, and since then only draws in Blackburn and at home to Fulham have added to their points tally.

In four of the last six seasons, the Hammers have taken points from Arsenal at Upton Park. But the last two trips to east London have ended in victory for the Gunners.

Could this match against Arsène Wenger's side be the turning point for West Ham's season? Perhaps they would like to think so, but under Gianfranco Zola they are yet to pick up a single point at home to a 'Big Four' club.

However, the Bettorlogic form lab could provide some hints to the Italian manager ahead of the latest London derby.

For example, in the nine games 19-year-old midfielder Junior Stanislas has played, West Ham have only conceded seven goals. That's a 44 per cent improvement on the team average of letting in 1.39 goals per game since the start of the 2004/05 campaign.

At the other end of the pitch, new signing Alessandro Diamanti seems to have had an impact. Despite the Hammers’ poor start to the season, their goalscoring record improves with him in the team.

When the Italian plays, West Ham score an average of 1.5 goals per game, compared with the overall team average of 1.13 goals per game since August 2004.

One other player worth highlighting is Jack Collison. When he plays, West Ham average 1.5 points per game. When he doesn’t, they pick up 1.22 points per game.

But will any of the aforementioned players take part on Sunday? Collison and Diamanti started in last weekend's defeat to Stoke, but all three missed the previous match against Fulham.

Finally, a positive note for Arsenal, who since the start of the 2004/05 season, tend to succeed against teams coming into a game in the bottom six.

The Gunners average more points per game, lose less and score more against bottom six clubs than they do in the Premier League as a whole.
