Arsenal Football Club’s young centre back Kyle Bartley is set to move to Rangers on a season-long loan.

Bartley, who recently signed a new contract with the Gunners, spent the end of last season on loan at Rangers, making eight starts and featuring in two Old Firm games. He had previously been on loan at Sheffield United.

The 20-year-old former Reserve team captain and FA Youth Cup winner has made one competitive appearance for Arsène Wenger’s side, playing 90 minutes against Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League in December 2009. He also appeared as a substitute in Sunday’s Emirates Cup game against the New York Red Bulls.

The move is subject to formal ratification. Everyone at Arsenal wishes Kyle a successful spell in Glasgow as he continues his development.
