Kyle Bartley would be more than happy to return on loan to Sheffield United if first-team chances at Arsenal are limited next season.
The defender recently returned from a three-month stint with the Blades in which he made 13 Championship appearances.
Bartley wants to make his mark at Emirates Stadium when the new campaign gets underway in August. But he believes another stint with the Blades would be a good alternative if he can't break into the Gunners' first-team straight away.
"I'd obviously prefer to be in Arsenal's first team," Bartley told Arsenal.com. "But I am realistic that it may not happen, I might have to wait a year or two yet.
"I've had a good couple of years in the Reserve team and captained the side this year which was a fantastic achievement. But maybe my next step will be to take another year out on loan and get some real competition under my belt. I am open to different ideas really.
"I absolutely loved every minute of my time at Sheffield United. The facilities and the set-up are great there and all the lads are fantastic, I haven't got a bad word to say about them."
And it seems that they don't have a bad word to say about him either.
Bartley made such an impression at United that after just two matches defender Nyron Nosworthy, on loan at Bramall Lane from Sunderland, told reporters that the 19-year-old's 'world is his oyster'.
The Arsenal youngster was taken aback when he read those comments but says he was equally delighted with the commendation.
"Nyron's a great lad," Bartley told Arsenal.com. "Obviously it was a bit surprising because he said that after just a couple of games and I was trying to take his place!
"But I get on really well with him and he's a top-class player. He's played many games in the Premier League against some of the top teams and it was fantastic to hear him say things about me, it was a real honour."
