Mikel Arteta believes he is finding the right balance in the Arsenal midfield right now.
The Spaniard faced former club Everton on Saturday at Emirates Stadium and helped the team secure victory with another assured display alongside Alex Song and Aaron Ramsey.
Arteta has featured in every available Premier League fixture for Arsenal since his deadline-day transfer from Goodison Park and has added experience as well as an acute understanding of when to sit back and when to attack.
“It depends on how the game is going and on our opponents,” Arteta told the Official Matchday Programme.
“I have scored five goals this season already, if you count my two for Everton in August, so I don’t think things are going badly. if I can add to that then it can only help the team.
“We need to make sure people other than Robin are scoring for us, after all!”
Arteta hit his third Arsenal goal of the campaign as Arsène Wenger’s side cruised past Wigan at the DW Stadium last week and the Spaniard wants more of the same in the coming months.
“I used to be quite good at that!” he said. “I need to keep trying these things - sometimes we get space to move into when the forward players have attracted defenders to them, and we need to stay aware of that.
“We have players to score from that range and I was glad to do my bit.”
