Arsène Wenger expects to have Andrey Arshavin fit in time for the trip to Blackburn on May 3.
The Russian suffered a calf injury in the first leg of the Champions League Quarter-Final against Barcelona on March 31 and hasn’t been able to play since.
However, he underwent a fitness test on Friday morning and Wenger believes the midfielder will be fit to return in time to travel to Blackburn Rovers a week on Monday.
"He had a run today and I believe he will be available for Blackburn next week," said the manager at his pre-match press conference on Friday lunchtime.
"We have good news about him – the tests today have been positive. He had a nasty calf strain and we had to be a little bit cautious.
"Recently, we have had a bad history with calves so we were a bit cautious. Anyway, he would not have been available for tomorrow [to play against Manchester City]."
