On the game and the test...
"It was an ideal preparation. It was a very pacy game. We wanted an intense game and I think Ajax gave us more than we wanted. They fought for every ball and played well. Some players are still a bit short physically but I'm not really concerned. We were much better defensively in the second half.

"In first half our position on the pitch was not right. We changed that at half time and from then on it was much more difficult for Ajax to play.

"You know Arsenal. We always create a lot of chances and don't always score all of them. But it's difficult to complain as well when you score three goals."

On the Ajax goals...
"In the whole game we were always dangerous going forward but they took advantage of two lapses of concentration and scored two fantastic goals. Both goals were unstoppable. Great finishes. They were sharp, incisive and took advantage of every mistake we made."

On the midfield...
"We missed Nasri tonight who has a little knock. We missed Diaby and we missed Song who's at the Olympics. I don't know if our midfield tonight was ideal but it's certainly not far from the midfield we'll play Wednesday night.

"I'm not concerned about that. But I would have been very concerned tonight if we had one or two injuries in midfield. We can't afford that at the moment. With Nasri and Diaby out. It's very positive for us that we have no injuries tonight."

On signing a midfielder...
"I said many times we are one body short. And if you ask me who I cannot answer the question because I don't know more than you."

On Ajax forwards...
"They have intelligent strikers. I was impressed by their efficiency and their movement off the ball and it could be they have a coach who was a striker."

On Arsenal's defence...
"I'm not too much concerned about the defence because I think we played against a good attack. As long as we score more. We were not well positioned on the pitch that's why we were sometimes in trouble.

"Kolo is OK. It's his first game since he had malaria and I felt in the second half he was much better than in the first."
