Arsenal sign Emiliano Viviano on loan

Italy international goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano has joined Arsenal from Serie B side Palermo on a season-long loan.

The 27-year-old spent last term on loan at Fiorentina, where he kept 11 clean sheets in 32 league appearances.

Viviano began his career at Brescia, and has also had spells in Serie A with Inter Milan and Bologna.

An Italian international, with six caps for his country, Viviano will be an important member of the Arsenal first-team squad, providing valuable back up and competition for Wojciech Szczesny and Lukasz Fabianski.

Arsène Wenger said of the loan signing: “Viviano is a player that we have rated for some time and we are very pleased to have signed him on loan. He’s experienced and has proved himself at a high level, and provides us with excellent cover to our existing goalkeepers.”

Everyone at Arsenal wishes Emiliano every success at the Club.

The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
