Arsenal Members Day 2008 - Exclusive Pictures
Over 4,000 Arsenal fans flocked to Emirates Stadium on Tuesday for the Club's annual Members' Day, in which members were invited to watch Arsène Wenger put his first-team squad through their paces on the Emirates Stadium pitch, as well as enjoying a number of other activities.
The Gunners stars warmed up on the pitch before taking part in a small-sided practice game, whetting the appetite for the campaign to come with a full range of intricate passing and skills. They then showed their appreciation to fans on a rainy August morning by kicking 200 footballs into the crowd. The footballing activity was completed with a penalty shoot-out - in which five competition winners had the chance of a lifetime to take on Gunners number one Manuel Almunia from 12 yards. The Spaniard was kept equally on his toes when Arsène Wenger himself sidefooted a loose ball towards his goal, tipping the ball round the post!
Both Manuel and Arsène then took part in on-pitch interviews, outlining their hopes ahead of the forthcoming season. The fun continued in Block 31, where a special Arsenal Extra Time session featured music from an Elvis impersonator and a question-and-answer session in which comedian Matt Lucas grilled Arsenal legends Sammy Nelson, Charlie George and Bob Wilson.
