Arsène Wenger believes Arsenal's traditionally fine form in March could be linked to squad rebuilding.

The Gunners have picked up an average of 2.27 points per Premier League match in March since Wenger took charge in 1996, while their least productive month is November with 1.6 points per game.

Arsenal have found their form in spring once again with six wins in their last seven league games - and the manager thinks he has an explanation.

"We don't target the month of March," he insisted. "Sometimes it's a coincidence of results and sometimes a coincidence of fixtures.

"But I believe our team has always developed a way to play that makes them stronger throughout the season. That's maybe one of the consequences of it - that we go from strength to strength.

"We should not forget that, in recent seasons, we have started with young squads who have learnt first during the season, or with squads who have been disturbed because we sold players and we had to rebuild a team.

"Of course it takes a while to get into a good momentum [after that]."
