England Under-21 international Stewart Robson, now of Arsenal TV, was born in Billericay, Essex. Voted the Gunners Player of the Year in 1985, he opted to join boyhood favourites West Ham United two years later.

Joe Baker, Alan Skirton and George Armstong scored two each in a 6-2 mauling of Sheffield United.

Left-back Bob McNab won the first of his four England caps in a 0-0 draw in Romania.

1976
Frank Stapleton, Sammy Nelson, Malcolm McDonald and Trevor Ross all scored in a 4-0 win against Birmingham.

1988
Nottingham Forrest were beaten 4-1 by Arsenal with goals from Alan Smith, Steve Bould, Tony Adams and Brian Marwood.
