The trip to Istanbul was picked out as being the trickiest of Arsenal’s group games and one where their young team may be intimidated by a hostile atmosphere. But all those fears were eradicated inside 11 minutes last night as Arsenal led 2-0.
Of course the rest as they say is history but Arsenal went on to score five goals in total from five different players. This is the type of result that will give their young team huge confidence. Manuel Almunia was terrific in goal, Cesc Fabregas was back to his orchestrating best and Aaron Ramsey scored his first goal for the club. The future looks bright.
Following last night's victory - which means Arsenal require just one more victory from their remaining three games - Paddy Power have cut Arsenal’s Champions League odds into 10/1. With qualification almost guaranteed the team can take this form into the Premier League.
