Emmanuel Adebayor has urged Arsenal to ‘seize the day’ and win the trophies they have worked so hard for.

Arsène Wenger’s young squad just fell short in the title race last season and were unfortunate to succumb in the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League. This term they have reached the same stage of Europe’s premier competition and have a live chance in the FA Cup.

This week’s ties with Villarreal and Chelsea could propel Arsenal towards glory or scupper their hopes of silverware. Adebayor is determined to avoid the second scenario.

“[Winning trophies] is what we have been talking about every day,” he said.

“Saying it is good, going for it is even better. I've been here three years and saying we have to win things and achieve things and now I think it is a real chance to win something because we are in the Semi-Final of the FA Cup and Quarter-Final of the Champions League. We just have to stand up and go for it.

“Is the Champions League our best option? Yes and no. Yes because we know we have a chance and have played well in the first leg and we're at home for the second leg.

“After that we have to play against Porto or Manchester [United]. It will be tough but we have go for it and tell ourselves we have a chance to achieve things together.

“The squad is quite young but we just have to believe in ourselves and believe in our quality. There is no reason why we cannot achieve things.”
